Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This agreement outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Requirements Overview
- To rent a vehicle from Leigh Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on vehicle type, which may incur extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid full driving license relevant to the vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to furnish valid payment details and a security deposit, as well as meet any additional conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, ensuring secure transactions through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage identified will be evaluated and charges may apply. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when it was picked up, as refueling fees will be incurred for lower levels. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you expect to return the vehicle late. You will also be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or related charges that arise during your rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Full details, including excess amounts, can be found in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to lower your financial liability; we suggest reviewing these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess unless additional coverage is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Please be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or similar risky endeavors is not allowed. The transport of hazardous materials is forbidden. The vehicle must not be sublet or operated by unauthorized individuals. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly against policy. Additionally, the vehicle should only be used for its intended purposes, without exceeding passenger or weight capacities. Operating the vehicle outside the agreed geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowable under English and Welsh law, Leigh Car Hire disclaims responsibility for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.
Governing Law Overview
These Terms are subject to the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
