Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pick-up. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, charges, and your responsibilities for that rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will be the authoritative document.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Leigh Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, although age limits may differ based on vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur extra charges. A valid, full driving license suitable for the vehicle category is required, along with proof of identity and current address. You must also present valid payment information and a security deposit, as well as fulfill any other conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be completed via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are usually required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where necessary. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage promptly. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document this. Upon return, the vehicle must be in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional charges. Please ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be applied if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns could result in extra charges, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options are available to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You remain liable for damages or loss up to the insurance excess unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or similar high-risk activities is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is unacceptable. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Ensure the vehicle is used only for its intended purposes and within the specified passenger and weight limits. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Leigh Car Hire disclaims any liability for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or cases of fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in England and Wales.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time. Updates take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
